We are celebrating! - winning the booby prize in our fundraising quiz 🤣🤣

We raised £417.50 - another reason to celebrate 🎉. This will help us to help more people with long term health conditions.

Thanks to hammettgeorge for organising, Pradip and his team at The Gurka Restaurant, for the amazing food, and Terry for marking.

Shout out to our Volunteer team of Beryl, Erika, Veronica, Dylan, Natasha and Anita who are awesome at selling raffle tickets but not so good at general knowledge 🤣

We won a box of celebrations! We will share with the team - maybe 😊

A lovely busy Friday for us! Westward Ho! this morning for our NHS commissioned Steady on Your Feet programme, and then Roundswell Community Centre for Vista Balance, Vista Move and Vista Circuits. Delighted to be visited by Marie from North Devon Voluntary Services - NDVS and also to be joined by Active Devon who are filming some of our work to promote the importance of exercise for people with long term health conditions. Our volunteer team and amazing clients did us proud. Thank you! What a lovely Friday - I had the chance to spend time with some brilliant people and community groups.

I’ve promised myself this year that I’ll get out and visit more of the VCSE organisations we support at NDVS - to really see and feel the impact they’re having. And today Anita from Vista Wellbeing CIC made sure I kept that promise!

I joined their Friday movement session at Roundswell - gentle, inclusive physical activity led by Level 4 instructors, designed to help people improve strength, balance and confidence. People can go at their own pace, and the social side is just as important as the exercise. A bus route that brings people in, a warm welcome, and a cuppa and biscuit afterwards… it was just lovely.

A really uplifting end to a very busy but rewarding week. I’ll definitely be going back - and taking others with me who’d love to see the impact for themselves.

Marie - Grateful CO 🧡 loving the flexibility of her role

Thanks Kim, for all you do for us 💚🌟 Volunteers’ Week Spotlight 🌟

Our Final Volunteer Co-ordinator we’re celebrating is Kim Wootten from Vista Wellbeing 💚

Some of you may recognise Kim from her previous work with NDVS, a much-loved member of the team. It’s wonderful to see Kim continuing to support volunteers and communities in her role with Vista Wellbeing.

Kim supports around 10 volunteers across 13 fitness classes in 5 North Devon towns: South Molton, Ilfracombe, Braunton, Westward Ho! and Barnstaple.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Kim shared:

💬 “One of the parts of the role I enjoy is the recruitment process - meeting new volunteers, hearing their stories and learning about what inspired them to volunteer.”

Kim also spoke about the impact volunteers have on the people attending Vista Wellbeing sessions:

💬 “The most rewarding part of my role is seeing the positive relationships that develop between volunteers and clients. Everyone gets involved no matter what’s happening - exercise, teas and coffees, arts and crafts - the volunteers make everyone feel included.”

💬 “Our volunteers play a huge role in helping clients have great sessions even when they are going through difficult times such as illness or bereavement.”

Thank you, Kim, for all that you do for your volunteers and local communities 💫

The Vista team is passionate about the benefits of physical activity, and committed to making safe and effective movement available and accessible within our local communities.

The evidence in favour of physical activity in the treatment and prevention of many diseases is very strong, with new evidence emerging all the time.  However, some people, especially those with long term medical conditions, need support to develop a more active and healthy lifestyle – and Vista Wellbeing can help!

With socially based physical activity at its core, Vista clients can access specialist and peer support, thus reducing social isolation in addition to increasing health and wellbeing and maintaining independence.
